My Butterfly

Walking in the hills above Auki, Malaita, where I was living in 1983, I came upon a small road-side spring and a cloud of silver grey butterflies. I realised they were special and caught 4 or 5 for the Solomon Islands entomological collection at Dodo Creek. They were indeed new to science and were eventually described in 2000 as Solomona sutakiki malaitae. They have never been seen since.
